As of September 2019, I have made a big decision to take a hiatus from Savour Life Therapy to focus on my family, therefore am not currently taking clients. I would like to thank my many clients for their trust and support and I look forward to resuming my practice in the future!
My name is Amanda Holler and I'm a Registered Social Worker and Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor in Kitchener, Ontario. If you're wondering if you can have a better relationship with food and your body then you've come to the right place!
Feeling out of control with your eating often results in feeling physically and emotionally unwell. I know what it's like to distrust yourself with food and to dislike your body, desperately seeking a way to fix it.
I want to let you know however, that there is another way to live happy and healthy in your body and where you get to enjoy eating! Hard to believe? Keep reading!
Does this look familiar? If so, you are not alone!
HOW I CAN HELP
I provide therapy using the Intuitive Eatingphilosophy and framework which believes you are born with the wisdom to eat and move according to your own body's needs and desires for overall health.
You may have become disconnected from your body for different reasons. For many, living in the diet-focused culture that tells you that you can't trust yourself around food and exercise is a huge factor!
BUT you can learn to trust yourself around food! I help you reconnect to your body to eat and move in a way that is pleasurable and supports your physical, mental and emotional health.
I incorporate a number of approaches into my practice including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness and Attunement practices and I work from a trauma-informed and strengths-based perspective. I also practice from the Health At Every Size® paradigm and utilize the Intuitive Eating principles which include:
Intuitive Eating is evidence based, with nearly 100 studies demonstrating it's effectiveness (check out the research here)!
My Own Story
Having recovered from an eating disorder myself and having spent 15 years dieting, I know what the impact of food obssesion can be on your life. I understand that fighting with how you eat and move can be all consuming and I know how hard it can be to reach out to seek help. You are not alone.
It is my hope that I will help you develop a satisfying and healthy relationship with food and your body, so that you can savour all aspects of your life.
