Heal your relationship with food and your body and savour life
How do I know if your service is right for me?
The beliefs we have about food and our bodies affect all domains of our life, including our physical, emotional, spiritual and psychological selves. Some people have spent years feeling miserable about their bodies and have lost their trust with food and movement. If you’re tired of dieting and want to re-learn how to eat and move intuitively, then I can help you heal your relationship with food and your body as well as assist you in finding more joy in your life.
Here are a few questions to consider:
Worry about your eating habits? Have brief or extensive history of dieting? Want to feel better about your body? Want to feel normal hunger and fullness cues? Want to enjoy eating without guilt? Want to learn to cope with feelings without using food? Want to explore enjoyable exercise/movement? Want to encourage healthy eating habits and body acceptance for your family?
If you answered yes to any of the questions, then learning to eat intuitively is absolutely for you.
Where is your service offered?
I offer sessions out of the Family Centre (65 Hanson Avenue, Kitchener, ON). The nearest major intersection is Homer Watson and Ottawa. There is ample free parking available and bus service is available.
My online counselling service is offered to people residing in the province of Ontario, Canada.
What can I expect coming to therapy for the first time?
Every counselling session is unique to fit your needs and goals. Generally speaking, therapy sessions last 60 minutes and are scheduled on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on where you are in your journey. In our first session together, you can expect to be asked about your hopes and intentions for coming to therapy, relevant familial/background information, as well as your issues of concern. A first session is typically 90 minutes in length so as to accommodate any questions that you might have about the therapy process, as well as to complete the initial paperwork.
Is your service confidential?
My service is confidential with exception when it comes to issues of safety for yourself or others or if my files are subpoenaed by court order. In situations where safety is a concern it is my hope to work collaboratively with you, as well as any additional supports who may be involved.
As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), my counselling service fees are covered by many group insurance plans.
My regular rate for counselling is $120/hour or $150 for 90 minutes. Fees are payable by cash or credit (Visa, Mastercard) at each appointment or by e-transfer prior to your appointment. I am happy to provide you with a receipt once payment is received.
Once registered on the online portal you'll receive a note from me within 3 business days with a few notes about the process. We will then start the work! I'll ask a number of get-to-know-you questions to start us off. When I receive your response and payment I will take an hour to thoughtfully respond as our work has begun! Payment is always required prior to each of my responses and can be sent to email@example.com. We will arrange for a security question and answer!
Counselling services provided by a Registered Social Worker (RSW) can be claimed as a medical expense when filing your income tax return. In other words, Registered Social Workers are now authorized “medical practitioners” for the purposes of claiming medical expenses.
When you schedule an appointment with me, I commit to reserving that time slot for you and you commit to paying for the reservation of time. If you need to cancel your appointment, I kindly request a minimum of 24 hours' notice.Late cancellations and missed appointments are charged the full rate of the appointment. If you're unable to attend your appointment at the last minute due to an emergency, I will assess whether it is appropriate to waive the fee. I know that 'life happens' sometimes.
